KristinHi Louise:
The doctor’s did an MRI on him at 20 months because he was not growing. At the time, he was only about 16 pounds. He was 6 pounds, 11 ounces at birth. He was labeled a failure to thrive child and they were checking his pituatary gland to see if there were any problems. The Chiari was considered an "incidental finding". This was all before he was diagnosed with CAH at 3. He must have seen every specialist under the sun trying to figure out what was wrong with him. It wasn’t until he started growing dramatically (which we thought was good) and getting pubic hair that he was finally diagnosed.
Thanks,
Kristin
