If your child won’t take the pill you could easily get a simple mortar and pestle (I have one I got from a gourmet shop) and crush the pill to dissolve in whatever medium you want.

(I don’t use the mortar and pestle for medicine, but for cooking, but I have on occasion used it to powder a pill.)
