JanetDHi Sherry,
Sorry you had to do the ER trip.
Don’t know if it is a typo or not -- but standard CAH protocal says to give stress dose at a temp of 101 or greater. By the time the temp reaches 104 you should definately be doing a triple dose - and depending on the child you might need to consider an injection. If this is what your ped endo has indicated, I would talk with them again to make sure. Once my daughter’s temp gets this high then she starts vomitting, and I have to give an injection, then head to the ER (she always needs the IV fluids). Not much fun!
With your daughter’s temp last night, I would still be doing the triple dose today even if the temp is normal without Tylenal/Motrin/etc.
You should double check with your ped endo, but typically with an infection, once the fever is gone and the antibiotic has had the opportunity to get into the system (usually a minimum of 24 hours), then stress dosing is no longer required.
