LauraMy daughter uesd to get UTI’s constantly. We only stressed dose when there was a fever with that UTI.
Just a side note. I too agree, with Janet D. Definately stress dose at 101. Go to the PENS manual. I think this site has it. OR if not this site go to CARES Ffoundation for information on how to treat a fever. I personally like to start my daughter’s stress dose at 99 when I KNOW my daughter is getting sick with a virus. Like if she starts with the typical sore throat when a cold is coming on. She usually follows that with a fever. When that fever starts I am on it right away. My philosophy with my daughter is to get ahead of the fever before the fever gets ahead of her. It is amazing how well these kids do when they get these extra meds. I can literally see it working on that fever of my daughters when I give it to her. And I live by Motrin and fevers. But every child is different. This is what works for us. She will be 7 years old next month. Also I want to pass on this info. We were told because of my daughter’s virilization at birth, these typical CAH girls that are virilized have "U" shaped urethra’s. This in turn gives a "back flush" with their urine into the bladder, causing infections. We keep my daughter drinking LOTS of water and we always make sure there is NO holding her pee. If she does, we are in trouble. I hope she is feeling better soon!
