JennHi Amber, I know how you feel. My son who is now 5 months old was on a 1 1/2 hour feeding schedule for the first 2 months. I thought I was going to lose my mind! He didn’t start taking cortef until he was 6 weeks old (non-salt waster). I know babies go through a huge growth spurt at 2 weeks and then again at 6 weeks. I had to stop nursing because #1 I couldn’t stay awake long enough to feed him and then my milk supply couldn’t keep him satisfied. I gave up, oh well.
It’s perfectly natural to have the feeling of being a bad parent, I’m sure everyone is a little pessimistic sometimes. You not only have a brand new baby, you have a brand new baby with a "brand new" condition (to you) that you need to learn about.
My husband also had to work long hours after the baby was born and I have a 4 year old at home as well. I don’t know how I made it through those first couple months, Oh yeah I asked my mom for ALOT of help, which she freely gave (THANKS MOM!!!!) I suggest if you have any family or close friends, ask them for help. Even a few hours of peace can do wonders for your spirit and sanity. It can be hard to be away from your new baby for a couple of hours but for your health you must get some rest.
Please email me if you want to talk.
