My almost 16 yr old daughter pretty much does anything and is also a very happy, healthy, friendly and wonderful girl. However, we are mindful of the CAH. Heat is her biggest stressor, so we make sure she stays hydrated, especially in the summer heat. We have at times had to give her an extra dose of her Cortef when she played sports, but it varies from child to child. You will be able to look at your child and tell if this is the case. We still make sure at school that the clinic staff, guidance counselor, and all her teachers are aware that she has a medical condition. We give them a very brief overview of the aspects of CAH that they need to know (regarding injury, vomitting, dehydration, etc.). I would suggest you do that with whomever is watching your child in your absence. Also, get a Medic Alert bracelet if you don’t already have one. I hope I haven’t alarmed you. On the contrary, my daughter lives a very normal and full life, but we make sure she is able to do it safely.Kay
