As I think most of us know - when a new parent visits the website they are intimidated and scared - I’m not sure about the "registering" thing (I’m not sure to what extent you are thinking of requesting info) - I think it might scare people off that may not want to share all that info. . .  Having it be optional would at least let people still ask their questions without HAVING to register and divulge private info.
