re: swallowing the cortef pill

The pill is not that big at all. Trying to think of what to compare it to.....  think of a standard # 2 pencil....the diameter of the eraser if you are looking down at it... cortef is similar in size (diameter only) to the eraser top. Or perhaps a better way to describe the size    ....    4 dots wide by   ..   2 dots thick (roughly)  I’m looking at a 5mg tab as I describe the size. It’s smaller than an M&M.  Chances are your child won’t be getting the full tab for a while so a partial tab will be easier to get down than the full. However, the full tab is small enough that it may not be a problem. My son was about 2 when he started swallowing the full tabs. His everyday dose was smaller than a 5mg tab each time but in times of sickness when we doubled or tripled the dose , the full tab was not a problem for him. Now he is 7 yrs old and the 5mg tab is his full dose 3x a day. If we have to double or triple the dose... he will swallow the multiple pills all at the same time. He also regularly swallows the cortef and florinef together at his AM dose.

I have a brother that couldn’t get down the tiniest of pills. It just made him gag.

I myself sometimes have a problem with pills ( though they tend to be much bigger or not coated)

I was relieved that Brayden was able to swallow his down without any problems and (smile) thought I was brilliant for having tried at his young age. (smile)
