I didn’t mean it as an attack on you. This particular story is one of many I am deluged with by people who think email exists to forward chain letters and implausible stories that they insist are true. (and, to your credit, you didn’t claim the story was true) To me the story is bland and meaningless because of it’s unbelievableness. I know there are people out there that like stuff like that, but I wanted to stress that true stories are so much better at conveying true inspiration.

Another aspect of the story is the way certain people are stereotyped as cruel in a way no one actually is. I am accused of this because (on other boards) I am outspoken in defense of our President, Capitalism, Christianity, etc. The kind of imaginary demonization that I find myself the brunt of is very much like the unrealistic manner in which the grocer is portrayed.

BTW, did you read the story I linked to? That one actually brings tears to my eyes almost every time I read it.
