Jackiei would first like to give alittle background information about myself. i was diagnosed with CAH about 3 years ago with routine blood work. i went through 6 months of blood test after blood test to rule out other diagnosis like PCOS. i have been on prednisone for 2 years and my tests are now normal. my husband and i decided to try to get pregnant and even though i’m glad that we might be right now, the timing isn’t the best for some tests we are suppose to take. i met with my pre natal doctor for a preconception visit and she ordered us both to see a genetics doctor for additional testing. she wants to know what strain of CAH i have. i didn’t know there was more then one. she also wants to make sure, without a doubt, the my husband is not a carrier either. we had some tests done by the endo. doctor and he said that DH (dear husband) is in the clear. but the prenatal doctor wants to make sure. she said that if he even has the smallest percent chance, they are going to start me on DEX before i even get pregnant or immediately into the pregnancy if i am right now. then they will do a CVS (chorionic villus sampling) as soon as 9 weeks to see the sex of the baby. if it’s a girl, i will stay on DEX throughout the pregnancy. if it’s a boy, i can discontinue taking it. if DH does not have any strain imaginable, i will not have to take anything but my prednisone, which they will have to increase during the pregnancy. we see the genetics doctor at the end of the month.
so heres’ my question. can prednisone give you a false negative with home pregnancy tests? i have been late for about a week and am still getting negatives on the tests. i was thinking that since it’s a steriod and has effected my testosterone, that i may not have enough of the HSG (pregnancy hormone) to bring out a positive. i was wondering if anyone has information about this. thanks so much for reading and have a great day.
