re: re: New here...awaiting test results

I too agree that it’s been to long of a wait for the results.  My SWCAH son is now 9 but when he was born he was diagnosed via the new born screening.  He was born on a Sun evening at 4;45 pm and on Monday morning at 7 am they told me I could go home (the drive up window days).  Because he wasn’t 24 hrs old the pedi would not release my son so we stayed the day and went home in the evening.  Just before we left they took his blood for the new born screening.  I was then asked by the pedi to phone his office the very next day to set up and appointment for Wed.  Apparently they like to do two exams before a baby leaves the hospital to ensure all is okay.  I agreed and on Wed we went to his office.  It was at that time we were told of my sons CAH.  However, we were also told that because the test was done so early in life (typically it’s done around 48 hrs) it could have been a false positive.  So they took more blood in the office that Wed and told us to come back on Friday for the results.  On Friday when we arrived we were informed that the test was infact accurate and we were sent directly to Boston to meet with the Specialists.  Our son went into his first crisis there and he was admitted for a week.  My time line is to show that by the time he was 5 days old he had two tests done and results received.

Good luck
