I just had a CVS done a few weeks ago.  The doc that we went to was very experienced and thorough - I personally felt it was less traumatic to me and to the baby than the amnio.  He was telling me some joke and when he gave the punch line he sat up and laughed and said "It was so nice to meet you. . . " and he was gone!  No bleeding or cramping, a good experience in general.
