I had the short synacthen test and was give ACTH via IM injection but I don’t have CAH.  I had my test in clinic and drove home afterwards - I was not told there were any risks involved!

My son (who does have CAH) had the short synacthen too and had that IV followed by the long synacthen a few weeks later, and had this by IM injection every morning for 4 days and despite the fact he was taken off all medication at the time, didn’t suffer any side effects either.   I am therefore amazed to hear about poor Rosalie’s brother.  Was he told why this happened?  Is he perhaps allergic to the injection?
