My husband and his brother both found out they had CAH after I had a niece born with it. My brother in law found out when his wife was expecting their second daughter, the first was diagnosed at birth. My sister in laws water broke a couple months before the baby was due and they were testing to see if there were any other problems, when they discovered there was no CAH with this baby they decided to test my brother in law and his wife this was not done before because there was no family history .Well it turned out my brother in law did in fact have it, At about the same time we were undergoing fertility testing and after sending my husband to the urologist with an imotile count they began running test which can back so badly out of wack that the Dr. was sure the lab had made a mistake and was going to reorder them because he assured us no HEALTHY person could have a blood chemistry like this. I then told him about my niece at the time I did not even know the name of what she had but I knew she had been born with masculinize privates and took cortisone, salt and female hormones. It was as if I had turned on a light for the Dr. he said she had CAH and he would bet moneyy my husband did too. One more test confirmed it. They have no idea how they both survived because they are both salt wasters, my brother in law was able to get his wife pregnant with out help it took three great DRs.
