I had an amnio done 6 years ago, as the CVS was new at the time and was not presented as an option.  I thought the amnio was not bad at all.   You have to wait a really long time for the amnio and the results,  I got the results back at 22 weeks or more,  that was a long time on the DEX, I found out we were having a boy with CAH.  Anyway if I were to do it again I would do the CVS due to the much shorter waiting period.
