hi bill! kudos for all your research.... my little man is 6 months old so i cant offer you "long term " perspective here. thanks eric b. for giving that encouraging post. i will say that i have given him the injection twice. once for vomiting with a stomach bug and once for high fever (103 degrees). it was not a huge issue at all. he IS a salt waster. overall his milestones are all being met very well. i remember distinctly when he was 6 months old feeling like is he going to be normal??? once he started smiling, sitting up, eating baby food and laughing all the time, i was able to relax, as i am sure you will. right now, we are having definite height (very short) and weight (too big) conerns, but i am seeking lots of opinions and feel like it will start to normalize. i have been told that MOST cah males will be 2 standard deviations below their genetic predestined height. i would assume my son will be at least 5 foot seven or so. my husband is 5 ft 9 in. and i am 5 ft. 4 in. i, too , have done a LOT of research about cah. i am an icu nurse and have access to all the medical journals available. i will say that the more i have researched, the more treatable this condition becomes. i have very high hopes that my son will lead a happy, normal life. for ME, the biggest concerns are times of illness and height and weight. i am sure when he is a teenager, it might become compliance as well. anyway, best of luck and feel free to email me anytime.
