louisedont want to concern you at all, but, as an icu nurse, i would tend to believe the 147. if a heel prick is done, the blood can hemolyze which would alter the potassium, NOT the sodium. my son has had several heel pricks with normal sodiums and high potassiums. we disregarded those high potassiums. i have never heard of it altering the sodium. i could be mistaken, though. is he on a lot of florinef?? a lot of added salt?? what were his plasma renins?? honestly, a high sodium is equally as dangerous as a low one. i would lower the florinef and recheck in a few days. hope this helps!!
