 Good timing.

Brayden ( 7 yr old SWCAH ) just had two cavaties filled. We did not stress dose.  His dentist is a pediatric dentist. The office and the staff are fun as well as skilled.  He likes to go there so if there is stress I don’t know about it.

 This is how it went:

 sit in chair

wear cool sunglasses

cotton swab with numbing gel goes onto gums near tooth to be drilled

wait a few minutes

needle goes in gum wear numbing gel was (still felt a pinch of pain)

wait about 5 minutes

( played games hand held game and sucked on a sugar free lollipop )

drilling begins - (no pain felt) - plenty of small talk and encouragement

all done

treasure chest to pick a prize

soft foods needed- nothing crunchy or hard because of the filling - perfect time for ice cream or frozen yogurt

fun and jokes about funny look of numb mouth

"Mom, When do I get to go again?"   says Brayden

Hopefully only for cleanings I say.   :)

With all that being said... if your son is very emotionally stressed about the procedure, a double dose can’t hurt.

Another tip - eat before you go. It will be several hours after til he can eat again without drooling.  :)
