High Blood Pressure and Cah
Jul. 27th, 2004   7:27pm

I took my four year old daughter, she has swcah, to the ER last night because she woke up crying, complaining her mouth hurt. She was exposed to strep throat earlier in the week so I was a little worried that she might have caught it. Anyway they found nothing wrong with her other than a Viral cold, and began her discharge. They checked her vitals before leaving and her blood Pressure was critically high 157/105. It didn’t go down so they admitted her into the hospital. After many test, ultrasounds of her heart and kidneys they found that the walls of her heart were too thick due to a long period with high blood pressure. What upsets me is that the records of her checkups were looked up and five months ago at her endo appointment it was 140/80, and not one word was said about it. They are going to release her tomorrow morning and start her on blood pressure meds, they told me they don’t know the "why" at this point in time. I am so scared right now. Please write back if you have experienced this, or have any advice or piece of mind to offer me.

Thank you
