I would like to know how many out there have applied and qualified or been denied SSI?? Our pediatric endocrinologist advised us to apply more than one time for SSI & that we would qualify.  I applied 5 times throughout my beautiful daughter’s life & was told each and every time she didn’t meet handicap requirements or some other requirements.  When she passed away at 12 I was furious with SSI for denying her payments that could have helped with medical care.  I am still apalled and direly concerned about the education and health care or lack thereof for children with this medical condition.  Has anyone else had this situation or has had a positive encounter with Social Security Income Agency? I am pretty sure diabetics are offered SSI because of medication therapy.  One attorney even suggested that I should be ashamed of myself for applying for SSI when other people need it.  Thanks for any input you can give.
