I can tell you what could happen if you don’t work this out now.  That is, we never did let our SWCAH infant "cry it out" and at almost 8 years old, he still won’t go to sleep on his own without someone in his room.  Will even wake his mom (we don’t sleep in the same room anymore because of this problem) if he wakes in th emiddle of the night.  Sure wish we had it to do over.  I say in hindsight let em’ cry, cry, cry.
