Eric B.Because you’re 100 percent, completely normal! Everyone -- CAH or not -- feels alone sometimes. But it’s only a temporary feeling. Because, quite simply, you are NOT alone. All of us on this site are here to help in any way we can.
Living with CAH can be difficult, it can be alienating, and it can feel like one big drag. And the best thing to do about it is exactly what you did -- vent. Share your frustrations with those of us who have been there and understand. I have always found that by "letting it out", my burdens feel a great deal lighter.
So go ahead and SCREAM if you want to. YELL if you feel like it. And get rid of all the negativity inside you because there are better places for it. And better things for you to be doing. Like, for example, wearing your Medic-Alert bracelet. I know how much of a drag it can be at times. I hated the questions growing up, too.
But allow me to let you in on a little secret -- everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, out there is different in some way. Everyone feels alone sometimes and usually for a variety of reasons. Those of us with CAH have to wear it on our sleeves (or on a bracelet on our wrists) which makes it more obvious, and it does mean we have to endure annoying questions more than most people, but I can tell you from personal experience that after living with CAH for 40 years, you can handle it. You can be a person others know they can turn to when they feel alone (for whatever reason). Then, you will have turned a negative into a positive. And you’ll like yourself a whole lot for it.
But when you feel like you can’t deal with it, don’t worry. Those of us on this site will be here to do the best we can to help you through it.
Your Friend, Eric
