We live in Texas and it can also get pretty hot. We make sure that our SWCAH four year old daughter wears light comfortable clothes. We carry around water and gatorade and of course the Cool Mist. The cool mist is a small container that you fill with ice and water. It has a handle kind of like a air pump. You pump air into it until you cant any more. It  has a long thin tube and it lets out the fines cold mist you can imagine. With two older children that play softball/baseball nearly year round, it really comes in handy.
