KristinLynn: Good point about the time of the dosing. He gets his meds 3x a day with the last one right before bed time. I’ll have to ask the doctor about that.
Cherry: I definitely agree with you that kids should be kids. I have a friend that does not allow her kids to have any sugary items (candy, popsicles) in the house. Whenever they go to anyone else’s house without their parents around, they binge on candy like it is their last meal. I definitely don’t want my kids doing that.
Kenny definitely gets his fill of pizza, ice cream, etc. I just get worried because it seems like he will eat a huge meal and then will come looking for a snack 10 minutes later. At 4 years old, he can eat 3 good size pieces of pizza (more than I can). I do want him to learn good eating habits because I think we Americans tend to over eat anyhow and are struggling with obesity in general. There was an article in a local magazine that said our children will be fighting terrible health problems when they get older because the majority of them are already too heavy for their age. My understanding is that because of the cortisol, weight becomes a struggle. It isn’t a problem now because he is so over active but I don’t want bad habits to catch up with him.
