We have BOTH solu-cortef and Depro-Medrol, Sherry ... at our endo’s suggestion. We are instructed to give both meds in certain situations. As I understand it, Solu-Cortef goes to work immediately, but lasts only about 3-4 hrs; Depro-Medrol doesn’t go to work for about 2 hrs, but lasts a full 8 hrs. So, personally, I don’t think I would count on Depro Medrol to be fast acting in an emergency situation ... perhaps your daughter was given it several hours before her surgery, so that it would "kick in" when she needed it??
