low temp
Aug. 7th, 2004   7:13am

Thanks for the advice everyone. I called our ped. again last night around midnight and finally convinced him that we needed to be seen so we’re on our way now. Logan wasn’t s much lethargic as sleeping more. When he was awake he was still same old Logan. laughing and playing. Always wanting to stand and bounce never sit... Killing mommy and daddys arms because of it! =o)

I dont have the solu-cortef injections. I’m trying to push to get it. Our ped says we dont need it since we only live 5 minutes from the hospital so if Logan displays signs of stress call him and go up (well then why am I sitting home waiting to go see him now?????). I guess he figures that we never want to travel at all..... ???? So I’m going to push it again today. If he wont listen, I’ll try our family doctor, and if no luck there, I’ll call the endo (hes 4 hours away, so we rearely see him - all info gets passed on).

Also, we were just recently diagnosed, so he was on the kayexalate and lasix from when they thought he had renal disease of some sort - they were never sure what, but they thought it was kidneys, not adrenals. So we started the cortisol and florinef about two months ago for a different disorder that they thought it might be... and just got this diagnosis a week ago. He’s not behaving the way they thought he would in regards to weaning off the other meds tho, which is why hes still on them.

Anyway, i was up almost every hour through the night, taking his temp to check him. he never went above 95. He feels warm to touch majority of the time, and got all sweaty when I put him in warm clothes. They’re sayingat the hospital that where I dont have a rectal thermometer, just an ear one, that his core body temp may be ok - hence the sweating etc... but his extremities (fingers, toes, ears...??) may be colder which would be the reason for the chilly fealing fingers and toes and the low ear temp. I think they’re crazy, as the IWK childrens hospital in Halifax, NS always uses the exact model ear thermometer as I have, and I’m getting readigns on myself of around 98...

Anyway, kind of rambling... trying to kill the next 1/2 hour before our appointment with the ped....

I cant seem to find anywhere any information as far as when a low temperature would be considered TOO low - for CAH child or normal child. Does anyone know???

Thanks for the advice.
