LauraYES! We had my 7 year old daughter in and out of the pediatricians office with one sinus infection after another. Fever here and there caused by usually a sinus infection. We got to the point where she did nothing but SNORE! Snored like an adult. Kept the entire house up including herself. She would snort, cough, and gag and sit up through out the nights. It was pure hell for her. It was like someone was literally clasping her nose shut in the middle of her sleeping. She was So tired. So I took her into a nose, throat, ear specialist and they Xrayed her sinus cavity. It showed that her adenoids were indeed enlarged to the point of blockage. We had them removed but NOT the tonsils. We decided that it was unecessary to remove the tonsils since she had no previous problems with strep ect. It was an outpatient surgery. I was amazed she could go home that same day. She recovered beautifully. The only problem she had like ever kid is that she wound up throwing up once we got her home but smiled through it. They said that sometimes the blood and fluid caused from the removal of the adenoids can upset their stomach. She stopped right after that one barf and was excellent. She just had to get rid of that garbage. The next day she was running around like herself. No pain at all. I think EVERY child should have their adenoids removed. I swear since November her sinus infections has been gone. No more snoring. No more small fevers that would creep up to ruin her days. Also keep in mind that fevers could be bladder infections too. ( or UTI-urinary tract infections) But if you are scare of the surgery because she has CAH don’t be. Like any surgery, do your homework and find a good surgeon that does this. Like an ear, nose and throat specialist. Please email me if you have ANY further questions!!! Good luck!
One more interesting note: Adenoids shrink as you get older. Adults do not have these. Go figure!!!
