Well, as we all know, everyone’s story is different -but I would think, from what I’ve been told that the baby is getting what it needs cortisol-wise from the mom in utero & that inducing for just CAH isn’t necessary. That said, I was induced w/my first son at 38 1/2 weeks as they thought he was too big -we didn’t know he had CAH & the newborn screening came back positive for SWCAH on the 8th day -they said we would have lost him w/in a couple days -he had been jaundiced & losing weight (25% of birth weight) & they were trying everything to figure out what was wrong. My induction w/him was a nightmare -24hrs of labor, delivered by forceps, in NICU because he had been in the canal too long & they said he had fluid on the lungs...I also had a horrible tear & took 4 month to heal. With my second son who is now 2 months, we didn’t test in utero, but set up the tests & such immediately after birth -he came on his due date (though I was scheduled for another induction the day after his due date) & was born w/in 20 minutes after we walked in the door-and great recovery for me. He also has SWCAH but is doing fine now. Whatever you decide, just talk it over w/your OB & be clear as to his/her plan -that was my mistake. BEst wishes!!!!Darlene
