Every child and their endo. is different. We stressed dose before, during and after surgery. The gave it to her in an IV while she was under. The vomitting was under complete control once she threw up. She had been so stress dosed that 24 hours, I did not feel she was in any danger. BUT I did continued to stress dose not only because we were told to after the surgery but because of the fact she vomitted. She was extremely alert, her coloring was great and she continued the rest of the evening drinking fluids and eating small items to keep her blood sugar safe. I too get extremely sick after any kind of anethestetic (sp?). But as a child I did not. They said that sometimes they find the older a girl gets, (puberty and older) the body seems to reject that med. that puts you to sleep and they tend to vomit more. Go figure. They said that with this type of surgery, adenoidectomy, that blood upsets their stomach. My motto is don’t keep in what the body is rejecting. The body knows what it needs to get rid of. Although our kids can get into some deep trouble if they vomit, I think in some cases to keep the body from voiding what is not good to it is just going to prolong what is making them sick to begin with. Just my opinion. Although I do have that drug on hand if my daughter ever vomits and cannot stop. THAT is when I would use it. But again, every child is different. Every situation is different.  You do what works for your child. (side note: she has had several other surgeries, mostly exploratory. She has done completely fine and never vomitted after those surgeries. Even as an infant when she had her genital surgery. And that was pretty big.
