When my daughter was around 2 years old we could not get her levels to drop down.  The endo switched her to Desamethasone.  She only takes 1.40mgs per day.  When she was on the cortef she was taking up to 3 times this in one day.  And so far the dex has not slowed her growth down or cause dher to gain a significant amount of weight.
