StaceyHi all,
I was wondering if anyone has a similar situation or sucess story for me? I am in the process of being diagnosed with non-classical CAH ( very mild form). As a young adult ( 12 or 13) I was having symptoms which the doctors were convinced was PCOS ( poly-cystic ovarian syndrome) I had it all, hirsutism, acne, weight gain, and irratic menstral cycles.
At the age of around 17, I had an ultra sound that came back normal with all parts in working order and no cysts on my ovaries. But my menstral cycle had stopped completely! Still, because my mom has PCOS, they assumed I did also. They put me on birthcontrol pills and spironolactone. It helped a little but not much. They told me that when I was ready to have babies, to come back and see them and we would probably have to do Clomid ( a fertility drug)
Now, I am 28 , married and ready to have babies. I went to the OB/GYN and she sent me to an endo dr. This was not new to me, so I was not expecting anything. The endo was confused and was about to say PCOS ( again) when she noticed my 17-hydrox.... was WAY TOO HIGH. She then threw out the words CAH. This was the first time anyone had said something different.
So, she wants to start me on Prednizone ( steroids) and see if the levels improve. She seems to be optimistic about pregnancy but I am a little skeptical. This is all very new to me.
Does anyone have any experience with CAH and pregnancy? Any sucess stories? Please post anything that you think of, every little piece of information will help.
I greatly appreciate your time to hear my story. Please post a message or contact me directly. My email is sblock1016@yahoo.com.
