SandraHi Dina,
I think we all respond differently. I had a great experience while on dex. So much so that I told my husband that maybe I should be seen by and endo when my pregnancy was over because I felt GREAT!!! It was when I stopped the Dex cold turkey (we had a CVS and a FISH test at 10 weeks) because we were having a boy that I ran into problems. I did have weight gain but to me that was not a big deal. I was hungry more but no one forced me to eat donuts!!! When I stopped the dex, I had the worst migraines of my life. Actually, the only migraines that I’ve ever had. I was moody and very emotional for at least two months. It took a while for me to get back to "normal". By the way...I had a beautiful baby boy who is now 8 months old. He does have CAH like his big brother (3yrs). I also have two older boys 6yr and 9 yrs (non CAH). They had the stim test and don’t seem to even be carriers! Go figure! Statistics and genetics are a funny thing!
Just try to not expect to have side effects. Make sure your dose isn’t too high and try taking it at different times of the day. If I remember correctly I split mine up between the morning and night.
If I were going to have more kids (I’m done :) ) I would take the dex again in a heartbeat. To me it was worth it. It’s such a short time that I felt I could put up with whatever came about.
Good luck and I hope you get some sleep soon. You’ll have a different reason to not sleep soon enough!!
Sandra
