OT: It’s a Boy!
Aug. 17th, 2004   12:04pm

I just had to share that I have found my son -- or maybe he has found me!

His name is Shi RuBao (pronouced like the Shi part of Shirley, the Ru part of Ruth, and sort of like bow). Ru means like; as; if; Bao means treasure; precious. His new name will be Luke RuBao.

He has a birth date of October 15, 2002 (22-months right now) and he was born with a bilateral cleft lip and pallet. His lip has been repaired. If you want to see his great before/after pictures go to www.joliefoundation.org/ShiRubao.html

He is currently residing at the Nanjing Social Welfare Insitute in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. This is where my Olivia (5.5, CAH) was before coming home. My Ruthie (3.5) is from Jiangyin, Jiangsu.

At 12-months of age, he was very small, even on the Chinese growth charts. About 19 pounds (fully clothed, with several layers, I’m sure) and almost 28 inches in length.

Right now, I am hoping (really, really hoping) that I get to bring him home before the end of the year. All of my adoption paperwork was sent to China the end of June. I now need to write a letter of intent explaining how I will care for Luke’s needs. China will then issue pre-approval for adoption, followed by permission to travel.

Here is one of my favorite picture (1 out of 3)...
