I was asking mainly because there in no husband. She is 18, unmarried and this guy just happened to be a dead beat ex boyfriend that she was still sleeping with. (Very stupid move on her part) He has one other child who was born to his ex girlfriend about 2 months ago now. There is absolutely no way this guy wants anything to do with sister in laws baby so therefore there is no way of ever having him tested for the gene.

I don’t even know if she will take this all seriously. She has no clue what my husband and I went through when our daughter was born last March. She can’t even fathom the fear and frustration we had. We are trying to get her to go take a blood test to determine if she is a carrier, but I don’t see it really happening unless I go ahead and make an appointment for her myself with our genetic counselor.

I just hope she isn’t a carrier and that she doesn’t need to take the same steps I did. Who knows what the verdict will be if she has it and there is no way the father will take the test.
