I have 2 girls with ssw cah.  To the best of my knowledge, years ago when my sister and her husband wanted to start having children this is the way the coverage for testing worked.  They covered first the woman, if she was a carrier, they would then pay for the man.  It doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense, especially if you are more likely a carrier than your wife.  Have you tried to call and explain your situation to see if you could get individual approval?  It would more than likely save your insurance carrier money if you tested first.  Maybe point that out to them.  If you do make sure to get it in writing.  Best wishes to you and your wife!
