Medical braclet
Aug. 23rd, 2004   9:37pm

I was just curious how to address people who come up to you in public and ask why is your son wearing a medical braclet?  My son soon will be 5.  He’s no dummy.

He knows he has a medical condition and takes meds to keep him healthy.

I fill very uncomfortable when a complete stranger asks.

I guess people are curious.  I would never have the guts to ask someone.

The best response i come up with is he has a medical condition and go about my business. Can you image saying he has congential adrenal hyperplasia?  Thats like speaking another language.  I have had people chase me down  and others stop me with their hand to ask whats wrong with your child?  I had people call him a diabetic.   I have  had people tell me oh  his hearts bad.  I have been told its my fault from an old school nurse that my son has CAH because of my diet and i smoke and drank when i was pregnant! ( of course i didn’t)  I can’t believe how rude people can be.

Any response would be great!

Thanks!  A.J.
