New MomBeen there MANY times. My 7 months old son has had more blood work than I ever have and every time I have to tell them... ’his arms dont work’. No one - nurse, doctor, lab tech, etc... has gotten his arm veins to work. they always have to do a scalp vein, or the back of his hand, etc. Every time I tell them they say, oh theres one here.. I can feel it. I’m just going to try quickly, hen they jab in the needle, miss the vein wiggle and poke and pull out and push in untill fianlly they realize they were wrong. Meanwhile Logan is howling and squirming in pain on the table. I finally complained to the hospital director, to the blood lab director, to the nurses and to anyone else who would listen. Now it gets done right the first time, and if someone decides to try his arm, I ask them to try somewhere else or leave the room and get someone else to do it. My baby has enough to deal with without these inconsiderate ’I’ve done it a million times’, stuck up blood lab people. Dont’ get me wrong - there are a couple who are awesome, and I request them now whenever I can, God bless them!
