consider 2nd opinion too

Hi Patty!

Just about talking to your pediatrician -- if you’re not getting answers you feel comfortable with, seek a second opinion.  If you can find a pediactric endocrinolgist in your area, try them.  Some doctors aren’t familiar with CAH at all.  It took an endocrinologist to diagnose my LOCAH, even though it was quite pronounced, and I had very obvious signs as a kid.  I was the tallest kid in my class, had whopper huge feet (part of early growth spurts), was hairier than my stuffed animals, out of control with rage, my period started when I was 9, and I had a racing heartbeat all my life.  I didn’t have the slow healing with wounds until later in my life, but I did have difficulties getting over infections and illnesses.  My pediatrician never suspected anything.  It wasn’t until I was an adult I was diagnosed.
