re: UTI’s

Well, I have experience in this department...both of my girls 2 y.o non CAH & 8 month old SWCAH have both had UTI’s.
At our local hospital the Radiologist who did the VCUG only does the VCUG’s on children. She was very experienced..not with CAH, but with dealing with squrming little ones. She did ask me questions about my younger ones condition & was very careful in placing the cath. I felt relieved to have a doctor who was willing to admit that our daughters condition was new to her & took her time to make sure she did it right.
With my 2y.o who just had a VCUG last month, it was the same doctor..she was so calming to my daughter gave her stickers & everything..did give her some medicine to help her "zone out" before the procedure was done..and remembered & asked about my 8 month old....I was happy to have her refer to her by name & ask how she was..if she had teeth & was crawling yet. She asked about CAH in only 1 question...just if they were having success with her not getting anymore UTI’s now.
Our experience was not at a children’s hospital & was very "nice" for having a procedure done. I have no complaints with the treatment given. I would make sure that the radiologist is the pediatric radiologist. If they don’t have one I probably wouldn’t go there.....not so much b/c of the procedure but b/c I feel it is important to have someone who understands how the child is going to be responding be in charge of my child. Someone who is use to calming anxious children.
