I am sorry to hear that her friends mom is actting like that.  I am glad that you are attacking it head on.  I went to the CARES website & looked for a support group in my area.  While there are 2 in Southern California...neither were close enough to be included in frequent play groups for my daughter.  So, I went to her Endo. & he talked to mothers of a few of his patients who were about the same age as my daughter & gave them my #. I now have 2 people locally that I can talk too.  I also found that the mom’s who have older children are a great source of info regarding what’s to come.  I talk to a mom who has a 11 y.o & one who has a 13 y.o (both girls)  they help me soooo much!
