hi guys! i have a 8 month old son who is a severe salt waster. the 1st 4 months were the worst for us. it is SOOO much better now. until he was 6 months, we used normal saline irrigant. available by prescription (usually to irrigate wounds) and not expensive. we would add 7 mls of it to each bottle (he was not breast fed). it barely made the bottles taste any different and worked just fine. after he started on baby food and thus was drinking only 4 bottles per day instead of 6-8, we decided to switch to table salt. we take 1/4 tsp. of salt in the morning and put it in a little tupperware container. throughout the day, we just shake it in his bottles and over his baby food. VERY easy and cheap and no problems with it. if we are out and about for long periods, i will just sprinkle table salt from a restaurant, etc. in his food. it is not as exact anymore and his electrolytes are always fine now. i am assuming your little one is also taking florinef, right?? to be honest, if i had to do it all over, i would have just started with the table salt. best of luck!!
