hi new mom! i would classify my son as a severe salt waster for three reasons. 1. he is on a higher dose of florinef than others (.25mg) 2. his sodiums are always low normal-in the 136-138 range and 3. when he gets a bug, his sodium will drop immediately to the 133-135 range. i have heard my endo classify him as a severe salt waster. however, it really is not important in the scheme of things. as long as he is not acutely ill, he is totally status quo. however, when a fever occurs, esp. one assoc. with vomiting, i do watch him VERY closely. with the research i have done, i have not run across these classifications in any published reports. hope this helps!
