JillMy best advice for getting and keeping kids healthy is good exercise (including outdoor/fresh air exercise); healthy food (limit sugary snacks and boost veggies, fruit, whole wheat bread/pasta);lots of water (limit juice and cow’s milk, no pop - especially anything containing Aspartame); keep their schedules not too hectic to keep stress levels down for everyone(they don’t really need music lessons, gymnastics, hockey and Scouts all in one week do they?);lots of love - spend quality time with them every day; limit non-prescriptions medications such as Tylenol -- they don’t really need tylenol for every little pain or even for fevers. The body uses fevers to kill off viruses and bacteria because these "bugs" don’t like heat. Bringing fevers down artificially with medicines doesn’t do the immune system any favors. I also use homeopathic medicines whenever possible to avoid having to use antibiotics. Eg. Mullein EAr Oil is absolutely amazing for fending off ear infections. I also use echinacea at the first signs of cold or flu. For sinus infections, a homeopathic product called "Sinna" works very well. Another huge immune booster is Wellness Chiropractic care. My children see our chiropractor every two weeks to check for any subluxations (interference in the spine that could be impacting good nerve flow). All informations from our brains travels along our spinal cord and out through nerves to all of our muscles and organs. If our spines are even slightly out of proper position, the nerve flow can be compromised and the information can not be transfered properly. This can greatly impact our immune systems. Anytime one of my children has fallen off the swing or crashed off their bike, I have them checked by our chiropractor.
Hope this helps! Hoping for a healthy school year for everyone!!
