I am now just pregnant with my 2nd child and after many months deliberating and researching i decided not to take the dex. this was a very difficult decision and i can understand why many women take it but i just wasn’t happy with the amount of research done - especially in the long term, the ethics of only benefiting 1 child in 8 and the effects on the child in the womb. Although i was told that they don’t know of any illeffects to the foetus i felt that if many mothers can have some adverse effects, this is bound to pass on to the child and how can these really be measured? I already have a daughter was has some virilisation but i don’t find it difficult to deal with and pray that i will raise her to be confident and not find it an issue either but accept it as a part of who she is. I beat myself up for months trying to make a decision about what to do and now have a peace about not taking the dex. i can only recommend that you get as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision.joanne
