To JoanneI read your post and was curious as to what side affects could be possible to a child in the womb while a mother is taking Dex. I took Dex with my second pregnancy after having my first child born with SWCAH. I was not able to start the Dex until about the 11th week, which was apparently a bit later than the docs would have liked, but I did take it all through my second pregnancy, and that child was a girl with SWCAH. I opted not to take the Dex when I got pregnant a third time because of all the awful side effects I experienced when I was on it. Just curious as to what the side effects were-I was not aware of any at the time I was taking it except to those I myself might experience.
To Shelley’s original question, I did experience some nasty effects from taking the Dex. I suppose it could have been worse, seeing as how I did not develop gestational diabetes or immune insufficiencies. I did however gain much weight, have terrible itchy skin and rashes, moon face, EXTREME emotional highs and lows, fatigue, and terrible striations or very red stretch marks all the way down to my ankles.
