Is he a salt waster?  From my understanding a salt waster does needs to take Florinef since they waste salt and need the Florinef to help them retain from losing too much.  Whereas, a non-saltwaster does not necessarily need to take it since they are not losing salt.  However, many of these patients do take Florinef because it can help to better maintain control of their levels.
