From the research that i read i understand that there are no known significant or enduring side effects to the child either in the womb or post natal.  The main study i was given info on was carried out in 2001 at Cornell Medical Center.  However, some mothers like yourself do have quite severe side effects.  While i was willing to go through this for the sake of my possible child i just did not have a peace that if the mother can be effected nastily how do we really know that the foetus is definately not, and how can emotional effects be measured?  While it may be perfectly safe i was just not happy that there was enough research looking for possible long term effects.  i also felt that it took a generation before doctors realised that surgery is not always a good thing for female children, how do they know that something will not appear in later life.  I don’t really know, i suppose if someone could tell me that i was definately going to have a female child with CAH i would probably have taken it, i just wasn’t happy exposing my other possible 7/8 children to a drug.  Noone has taken the dex in my country and the doctors were wonderful at giving me the information, discussing everything but without trying to influence me either way.
