louisehi ! to michele----me too! our ems has the same policy. it is a dissapointment. however, know that if a non-ems person (ie teacher) gave the shot they are protected under the good samaratin law, the ems worker is not since they are "on the job." it is interesting how that works. anyway, my 2 non cah girls go to private school and my 8 month old swcah son will too! they do not have a nurse either. i agree with asking how they handle asthma, etc. but the best comparison i think is anyone that carries an epi-pen. almost every school has a child with either a bee allergy or a peanut allergy. usually, at private schools there is a designated teacher willing to give shots. at ours, she is a diabetic and feels comfortable with injections. there is a great series of diagrams on a link from the cares foundation website that can be printed to accompany any instructions with the shot. of course, for field trips , etc. i will have to go. anyway, best of luck!
