JanetDWhen Olivia was first home, I wouldn’t leave her with a teenager -- I felt it was too much responsibility on the teenager. I also didn’t go out often as a single, first time mom -- who had the time or energy!?
Fast forward -- Olivia is almost 6, Ruthie is almost 4. For shorter babysitting jobs, I will have the girl next door come. She knows that if Olivia gets sick, at all, she is to call me (I have a cell and will always leave at least one other number). She has not (nor will) be instructed on how to give an injection.
For the few times I have needed day long babysitting, I get a collage age or adult to come. They have always been told about CAH -- but I still don’t teach them how to give an injection. They too have my cell. Our local ambuliance district will give an injection, they are very close to my house (less than 3 miles), and they know about Olivia.
When I travel to China (hopefully this year!) to bring Luke Rubao home, a good friend will be staying at the house with the girls during the week (they will be with family on the weekends). She will be taught all about CAH and how to give an injection.
By the way, I next to never go out (shame on me!), and when I do, it is usually within 10 miles of home.
Warm regards,
Janet
