Cortef dosage

Hello all!  We have a 8 year old SWCAH son.  His levels have been off for quite some time (I posted a while back about that!!).  The endo just keeps increasing the Cortef, little by little.  Now he is on 17.5 mg Cortef a day (5 mg in the AM, 5 mg in the afternoon and 7.5 at bedtime).  He has kept the Florinef the same (.1mg in the AM).  Our son wieghs 52 lbs.

My question is: Is that a lot of steriod for an 8 year old or a child that weighs 52 lbs?  About how much steriod should an 8 year old be on?

My endo said that it is a large dose, but that it is obviously what is needed to get the levels down!  I have asked about the circadian dosing, and my endo always says no.  I’d personally rather try that than keep increasing the steriods.

Any comments/suggestions?

THANKS A TON!  What a blessing this board is!
